The Washington Post has been named Adweek’s Hottest Digital Publisher in News as part of the magazine’s annual “Hot List” issue for 2017. The list recognizes sites, brands and publishers leading digital innovation that has resonated with audiences over the past year. The Post was specifically recognized for advancements in engineering, design and product, as well as its achievements in reporting and video.

Washington Post Digital Subscriptions Soar Past 1 Million Mark

2017 has been a banner year at The Washington Post. “Our growth has been exceptionally strong, with digital-only subscriptions more than doubling since January 1 this year,” stated Fred Ryan, our Publisher. “Digital-only subscriptions have more than tripled since last year at this time.”

Ad Age: ‘RED’ Alert at The Washington Post, the Surprising Ad Tech Skunkworks

In its newest issue, Ad Age profiled RED, The Post’s research, experimentation and development group, and its founder Jarrod Dicker, who oversees commercial innovation. Dicker states that “All of the products are built to be consumer-first, and facilitate the best experience for brands with their existing assets by leveraging tech,” he says. “Let’s prove it on The Post, but build it to live everywhere.”

Every year Vanity Fair honors 100 titans from various industries according to their power and influence in society. In 2017, Washington Post owner and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos tops the list for the second year in a row at #1. Beyond that, The Washington Post’s Executive Editor Martin Baron ranks #10 on Vanity Fair’s 2017 New Establishment List alongside New York Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet. The two were recognized for “standing up for real news” and “breaking stories ranging from West Wing gossip to national-security scoops on a daily basis.”
